The people behind the books
River writes for children who are carrying something heavy and quiet. The stories in Letters Through the Wall grew out of a simple conviction: that every child deserves to see themselves in a book — especially the children we rarely write for.
River writes and illustrates under a single name, by choice. The work is meant to speak for itself, and to belong to the children who need it.
Quiet Bird Books is a small imprint with one purpose: honest, hopeful books for young readers facing hard things. We make stories that don't look away from what a child is going through — and don't leave them there alone, either.
The bird on our books carries a letter. That's the whole idea: connection that finds a way across any distance.
